We stayed 4 days and 3 nights at this hotel and it was great. It was in a good location downtown and near MUNI stops as well so it was easy to navigate SF even with just public transportation. There’s also a 7/11 and a Walgreens nearby, and I think there was a newly opened shawarma place right across as well (their food was delicious). The hotel staff were super helpful and kind and they answered all of my questions and assisted with any requests. Our luggage was kept safe before and after the checkout so we got to explore SF more. There’s still some renovations going on in the hotel but it was fine. The room does look a bit outdated, but it was still good. Although you can hear some sounds from the other rooms and the hallway especially if they’re loud, but still, it was fine. We encountered maybe 2-3 homeless people around the vicinity of the hotel, but it was alright. Will definitely stay here again.

I had a fairly long stay at the hotel - 10 days. I found the rooms a bit smaller than I expected. When I mentioned this at the reception, the friendly hotel staff put me in a better room. I am thankful for that. Nevertheless, due to the building being old, the rooms are overall smaller than many four-star hotels. I also enjoyed the coffee machine in the room and the daily morning coffee in the lobby area. The location is great, around Union Square, with a short walk to the metro station. A diner and a shop for snacks and basic goods are just next to the hotel.

This place exceeded my expectations. It's an old building that's been renovated so it has some nicer old style features and a fair amount of upgraded features as well. The lobby and relaxing areas on the ground floor were quite nice and my room had everything I needed and quite a bit more. Soaps, hairdryer, iron, lots of storage, coffee/tea, blankets, all that stuff was in the room and to be honest, I didn't expect it. I would totally stay here again for a work trip when I'm paying the bill.

the staff is second to none. I have needed to stay in a hotel for a little while longer than expected while trying to find an apartment. I was at the Cartwright for several weeks, perhaps a month. The staff has been amazing. Very accomodating. I needed to move around to several rooms for several reasons, one being having my dog with me, and they went out of their way to make sure I found the most comfortable place for me. Every morning I come down to smiling faces and kind words. They are great.

The location is very good, close to public transportation and to nice restaurants, grocery stores etc. the room was clean, it had a comfortable bed and a good shower. The hotel doesn't have parking on its own, but it offers parking at a reduced price, which was the cheepest I could find. The room looks small, but it contains everything you need, including a small closet room and a ceiling fan (an addition to an a.c). The leightning in the room was really good and the room was quite at night.
